What is Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform for creative projects and start-ups. Everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology.
Creators use Kickstarter to raise funds, through pre-orders, and carry their idea from development to production. It’s also a great way to gauge peoples’ support and gain feedback.
Some of the most famous projects include Pebble, one of the first smartwatches, Oculus Rift, a VR gaming headset, and Tile App, a trackable keyfob for the absent-minded of us.
Why is Boundary using Kickstarter?
Boundary is using Kickstarter to gain pre-orders and drive awareness of the product. Entrepreneurs on Dragon’s Den gain publicity and validation when a Dragon invests or offers to invest; we want to see similar support through pre-orders and a positive reaction from customers. You the consumers are our dragons!
When will it launch?
Tuesday 18th June at 1pm.
How will Boundary’s Kickstarter work?
For those who want to back us on Kickstarter, and effectively pre-order the Boundary system, you’ll need to visit our Kickstarter page to do so.
You’ll be able to choose between five Boundary Alarm packages at five different price points, though all with a generous Kickstarter discount!
We’ll be offering a limited number of Alarm packages at an Early Bird price. Those who take up the Early Bird Offer and pledge straight away will get the highest discount on the RRP.
After Early Bird packages are sold out, you’ll be able to buy our Kickstarter price. This is a significant discount on the RRP, but not as big as the Early Bird.
What if I support Boundary but don’t want an alarm system?
If this is you then thanks! We’ll be offering a small pledge for those that want to support us and say “I was a fan before they became big”. You can also sign up to our mailing list and send us feedback via email or social.
How do backers know if a project will follow through?
There are risks with backing any Kickstarter project, but Boundary is in a strong position to mitigate those risks. We’re founded by two entrepreneurs who have experience building successful tech companies and we have a talented team of developers and product designers. We’re in the process of raising £2.5 million in funding and we’re confident of hitting the target.
We’re also confident that our alarm system is going to be a success. It will deliver on functionality, style and usability, helping it to become one of the UK’s top home security options.
We will keep you informed throughout the campaign and we can’t wait to hear your feedback.
What if I change my mind?
Please get in touch within 14 days after the end of the Kickstarter campaign.
The reason for this is because we’ll use the funding from Kickstarter to run and grow Boundary, bringing our prototype to production.
How long does the warranty last on the Boundary product?
Am I getting the finished product?
Yes, by backing us on Kickstarter you’ll receive the same system as customers who buy via our website when we launch.
Backing us on Kickstarter is effectively pre-ordering the Boundary alarm system.
How do I sign up for beta testing?
If you would like to sign up for beta testing please follow the link below.
How do I know if my pledge went through?
If you didn’t reach a “Thank you!” confirmation page and/or you didn’t receive a confirmation email (title: “You just backed [Project Name]”), it’s likely that your pledge did not go through. If the pledge cannot be submitted, you may also receive an error message on the pledge page.
What Smartphones are compatible with the mobile App?
The Boundary app will be compatible with all recent Android and Apple devices.
Which part of the UK is Boundary based in?
Boundary is based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Where will the Boundary Alarms be manufactured?
Our alarms will be manufactured in the UK, before they’re sent out to Kickstarter backers.
Can I have my Boundary Alarm installed?
Yes. Once the Kickstarter campaign has ended they will send us here at Boundary HQ the email addresses of all of our backers. We will then send out an email to each one of you asking if you’d like to purchase any add ons. These add ons include cellular backup and professional installation and will be priced individually. You will then be able to select add ons, pay for them and receive a coupon code which you will be able to redeem at a later date to claim the add ons you have purchased.
The cellular backup will cost £50 more and the Professional installation will cost £179.
What are the benefits of supporting the Kickstarter campaign?
The main benefit of supporting the Kickstarter campaign is the large discount you receive. We will be offering discounts of up to £100 off, depending on the package you choose.
By pledging to the Boundary Kickstarter you are also helping raise awareness of what we are doing and how we hope to revolutionise the UK Home Security Market.
Can I pay in instalments?
No, unfortunately on Kickstarter there is no option to pay this way.
